About:

kill_la_kill_by_rumrock-d6paisw.pngThe series follows a rebelient school girl,  Ryuko Matoi as she searches to the holder of the other half of her scissor. She believes that who ever has the other half is her father’s murder. This results in her going into violent conflict with Satsuki Kiryuin, the iron-fisted student council president of Honnouji Academy.  The school is dominated by it’s fearsome student council.

The students of the academy wear Goku Uniforms. The stars on the uniforms represent the strength of the uniform. The wearer of the uniform receives super human abilities because they are constructed with a special material known as Life Fibers.  Ryuko Matoi, who wields a scissor-shaped longsword that can cut Goku Uniforms, challenges the council as she believes that is how she will find her father’s killer. She finds a sentient sailor uniform that she names Senketsu, a Kamui which is completely made of Life Fibers. It transforms her so that she can face Kiryuin and her trials and obstacles.

At first Matoi has difficulty accepting Senketsu but eventually develops a deep bond with him. She also makes a few unexpected friends along the way with different and outstanding personalities.

During the series Honnouji Academy dominates other schools taking complete control. Matoi unintentionally gets involved in a war between Nudist Beach (a rebellion group) that is trying to stand up against REVOCS Corporation (a clothing company) which is trying to take over the world with life fibers.

It is then revealed that the Life Fibers, which have been woven into all REVOCS clothing, are actually aliens that consume their wearers. When they devour the festival audience, Satsuki turns on her mother, revealing her end goal has always been destroying Ragyo, but the rebellion is short-lived as Ragyo has fused with the Life Fibers to attain tremendous power.

Ragyo recognizes Ryuko as her own daughter and Satsuki’s younger sister, who survived the termination of a Life Fiber experiment and was raised in secrecy by Ragyo’s missing husband Isshin Matoi.

My Thoughts:

Well I watched the entire series is one go. Although it did take re-watching the first episode more than once to really get into the series. It was lighthearted with some really good fight scenes and I am glad there was a background plot underneath the death of Matoi’s father.  There were also some really stupid scenes as well which added more than really needed comic relief.
