Anime Reunions

Wow it has been a while since I last posted, sorry about that!

In anime, reunions tend to go a little overboard. Especially when its two characters who have not seen each other for a while. A perfect example is when Meliodas and Ban (from The Seven Deadly Sins) meet up once again after being apart for 10 years. They destroy an entire prison that was meant to be a trap that they supposedly were not supposed to be able to escape. They destroy it without even trying or noticing that they are in a trap!

There are also those subtle reunions that hardly get noticed. Then there are the ones that are really emotional, like every time Naruto and Sasuke see each other. These are amusing to watch all the while thinking please let this be the time Sasuke will be dragged back home.

Some of the reunions are the starting point for rekindling old flames (especially in romance manga). Granted not all the reunions are happy and not all of them go smoothly. However there is just something about a reunion in an anime that lets you see different sides to characters and they also allow for new characters to be introduced.

There is something about a decent anime reunion that always makes me smile. What is your favourite type of anime reunion? Also which was your most remembered anime reunion scene?  I would love to know in the comments below!

  1. The reunion between Meliodas and Ban was a lot of fun. I think the best reunions are the ones that take place after both characters have undergone their own respective journeys or meet each other once again after having changed significantly. When those encounters happen there is so much subtext and significance to the meeting beyond just seeing somebody they once new – for better or worse they are both different and the scene prompts the characters to recognize that or actively fail to do so.
