Aijn are immortals that were originally thought to be God’s Army. There are 46 known Ajin in the world and two in Japan, until now. Kei is a dedicated high-school student with dreams of being a doctor and a good human being. However his life is thrown upside down one day when he is hit by a truck. Amazingly he manages to revive and pull himself back together afterwards, revealing that he is an Ajin. A reward is placed for anyone who captures him, forcing Kei to run. Betrayed by most of his friends he is forced to rely on his and his sister’s childhood friend, Kaito. Kei can’t call on his sister since she is in the hospital and the two of them have a strained relationship. With multiple groups closing in on Kei, each group moving and strategising ways to out manoeuvre one another. With all sides keeping secrets, who will Kei trust? While the struggle for Kei continues various pieces are being moved and plans put in place.

My thoughts:

I really enjoyed the intro and end songs. The art style took a bit to get use to but was good once I could watch without it distracting me. I really enjoyed Kei’s first revival, well pretty much every revival. The story progresses quickly but not so fast that you can’t follow. The characters were different, the main character is cool headed and ‘cold hearted’ which was refreshing. He openly admits to not caring for people and to not have made friends. His sister calls him trash, harsh! The series is like a tragic and action packed chess game, with each move leading to bloodshed and loss of life. It’s interesting to watch how the characters deal with betrayal and blind trust. My favourite character in this is Ogura, purely because of his personality and tenacity. I recommend this as a must watch and I myself will be watching this again.

Have you watched Ajin, will you watch it? I would love to know your thoughts in the comments below.
